The Crusade for Relevant Investing

The three pillars of portfolio-building from Bennet Sedacca's Atlantic Advisors.

First, I want to offer my heartfelt thanks to the countless individuals that expressed their caring thoughts to us this past week. I will forever remember my dear friend, mentor, and sage advisor Bennet Sedacca. Atlantic Advisors will honor him through our work, and will continue to uphold the ideals we shared: Sharing knowledge, caring for those around us, and for making a positive impact on our world.

It's Sunday night as I begin to write this, the traditional time that my phone would ring with Bennet on the other end all excited with the latest music related market article idea he was sitting down to pen. It was the culmination of a week's worth of collaboration with friends, colleagues, observations, and frustrations over the latest news.

The article would hit my email around 6 p.m., accompanied by a 1-line email that usually read: "Please look at this and make sure I haven't lost my mind. I'm going to keep writing. Please start editing."

Just as I might finish taking his rough draft first page and changing a few items here or there (but mostly making sure that my father the dentist would be able to appreciate most of it), the next section would arrive. Back and forth the emails would go until his initial writing was complete, and he would follow up with a phone call (usually after 9:30 p.m.) to make sure I liked it, and to make sure the edits were completed by first thing Monday morning.

For some reason, I'm expecting my phone to ring tonight, with Bennet wanting to know why this article isn't done yet, and how much he wants to read it before he heads off for dinner with the family. So as a thank-you to my friend Bennet, this tradition will live on. The tone and style may differ (who could do it like he did?), but the intent remains the same: To share my observations -- the collection of thoughts gleaned from a week's worth of collaborating with friends -- and to discuss what I believe will happen in the future.

The firm will continue to collaborate with the group that aided Bennet in his writings, and will work to honor his legacy through the continuation of these articles. Over time, we will share with you more about what we see for the future, interesting and odd observations from the world, and hopefully introduce you to ways of thinking that you might find helpful.

So let's say thank you to Bennet and know that his memory lives on in these pieces.
