Doin' It Bloggystyle: Take Me Out to the Ballgame

Minyanville brings together the best of what they're saying "out there" about the topics we're talking about right here.

Here are some randoms as I wonder why Mr. Met wouldn't tell me the secret ingredient in the Canseco Family BBQ sauce. Scott (free) Munis?

  • I agree with that unnamed guy who adds valuable insight to Power Lunch every day. Bond ratings should get set once and not touched if the market is at all jittery. Who wants to bear bad news?
  • Abnormal Returns compiles some more educated thoughts, from: Dealbreaker, naked capitalism, Market Movers.

Battle of the Network Conspiracies

  • Does the Weather Channel simultaneously play down and sensationalize weather? The Stalwart looks into it.
  • OK, it's not really that special or investigative. But here would be my point. I don't believe they sit in meetings and say "let's get the market rallying at 3:30 on a Friday". I do question running a late Friday story that still has not happened, 11 days later. And then bragging about it. Are you here to report news or create news?

Take Me Out To The Ball Game

  • Is it really only 100 years since the last World Series win? Great new listing, Cubs season tickets.
  • From Darren Rovell, I've just started to watch the Cubs season ticket auction on the team's web site. If you haven't heard, the Cubs created 71 new seats at Wrigley and today (yesterday) , they started auctioning them off on a season basis.....The seats are appropriately sponsored by the Chicago Board Options Exchange are the opening bids were at about $17,000 per seat (about $210 per game), with the lots being offered in chunks of two, four and five seats.
  • I've only been to Wrigley once, but here's another suggestion, create an auction market on the local hot dog fare. I'm $10 bid, no offer.
