One thing has nothing to do with the other, say experts.
Yesterday, a federal judge in New Orleans blocked the moratorium on deepwater drilling imposed by the Obama administration after the BP (BP) Gulf spill.
This will surely not please many Americans, who have been using the BP disaster to strengthen the argument that renewable energy is the answer.
Visually, the spill couldn’t look any worse. The website ifitwasmyhome.com shows what the spill would look like in other areas.

Here’s what it would look like in Los Angeles:

Chicago:

And the New York Metro area:

Not a pretty sight, to be sure.
The spill has prompted thousands of people in Florida to hold hands in a “Hands Across the Sand” rally to “show solidarity against expanding offshore drilling” this Saturday. (The group wants new tax incentives and subsidies to encourage clean energy and renewables.)
