Toddo On TV: Star Spangled Stocks

Markets, movers and more.

On the eve of the Independence Day, Toddo wonders, What's the most patriotic stock? It's not American Apparel (APP) - their founder, Dov Charney, is Canadian; it's not IBM (IBM) - they outsource labor; it's not Disney (DIS) - their merchandise is mostly manufactured in China and Vietnam; and it's not Anheuser Busch (BUD) - that American mantle is in jeopardy of being stripped. No, the star spangled trademark has to be Polo Raph Lauren (RL). What's more American than a Bronx-born fellow by the name of Ralph Lifshitz building a billion-dollar empire?

Okay, so presumptive nominees John McCain and Barack Obama didn't exactly solicit it, but Toddo has one piece of advice for the next president, whoever it may be: Embrace a North American community. By combining the natural resources of Canada, cheap labor of Mexico and intellectual capital of the United States, we'll have a much better chance of competing on the world stage.
