Friday Feedbag: Intel, Bears, and a Big Week Ahead...
If you were waiting for today's data to form an opinion on consumer-related stocks you're simply looking in the wrong place.
In other news...
- Loved Todd-O's morning Vibe regarding bearishness here at the 'Ville and in general. Take it from a guy who runs his mouth about stocks in print and on TV five days a week: if you're not offending someone with virtually every utterance you're just not trying. It's a passionate business and if someone doesn't disagree with you it's literally impossible to make a market.
That said, let me add this: The 'Ville isn't about denigrating the other guy. It's about sharing how we as individuals and the Street in general really think. If it comes across harsh, it's only because we genuinely care about what we're doing. Therein lies the value, Minyans.
- Speaking of which, Prof. Adami's segment on Street Signs this morning was absolutely as good as a television hit gets. He told you what he thinks and why he thinks it. He delivered it in a cogent, tight and entertaining way. Great and value-adding stuff, regardless of whether or not you share his view on Goldman (GS), Gold or Lehman (LEH).
- Logical downgrade on Intel (INTC) this morning (to paraphrase, "it's had a nice run, let it settle in a bit before you jump in"). I don't think it's worth the commission cost (or risk of missing a higher move) to scalp my long position here but the price action is saying "hold".
- If we could TiVO (TIVO) the tape, right about now I'd be fast-forwarding to Monday. It's going to be a big week in every sense. Until then, markin' time and watching some golf makes sense from where I'm sitting.
