Garmin (GRMN) shares are soaring today after the navigational device maker announced it will drop its $3.3 bln offer for Tele Atlas N.V. in favor of signing an extension with Navteq Corp. (NVT). Jack in the Box (JBX) is also to the upside after beating EPS estimates by 4 cents.
NovaStar Financial (NFI) continued to feel the impact of the subprime crises as the mortgage broker reported a $598 mln quarterly loss. Starbucks (SBUX) is also to the downside after lowering its earnings outlook due to poor economic conditions.
