M&A activity is supporting the market this morning as Cognos Inc (COGN) announced it will be purchased by IBM (IBM) for $5 bln. Delta Air Lines (DAL) and US Airways (LCC) are also in the green as airlines are rallying amid lower oil prices.

E-Trade Financial (ETFC) is plummeting this morning on news of lowered earnings forecasts, bankruptcy rumors and losses due to mortgage market exposure. Profit taking is also widespread among many solar names, highlighted by First Solar (FSLR) and Yingli Green Energy (YGE).
