Doin' It Bloggystyle: Bank of America, EHealth, and That Other AMEX

Minyanville brings together the best of what they are saying "out there" about the topics we're talking about right here.

Blogs themselves need no introduction, as they get as much publicity as pretty much anything these days, save maybe the latest Britney news. There's an expanding world of excellent financial blogs, covering just about everything, from global economics to swing trading. Minyanville's goal is to bring together the best of what they are saying "out there" about the topics we're talking about right here.

Some links as we sit with fingers crossed that Tony's trip to Mexico with "Yoko Romo" has jinxed the Cowboys this Sunday.

Educationally Speaking

That Other AMEX

  • NYSE may be buying the AMEX, and Dealbook and Naked Shorts wonder why (hat tip, Abnormal Returns).
  • OK, I'll tell you why.
  • Because the world is running out of places where you can slap a pair of paper spurs on someone without their knowledge and have 500 people sing "Home on The Range" to them at the top of their lungs without them having a clue why.
  • Because in the non-floor world, you can't send an intern out for a wild goose chase looking for a Box of Plus Ticks or an Odd Lot Stretcher or the Keys to the Clearing House.
  • Because where else would they pay someone to eat 50 White Castle burgers or drink a bottle of tabasco sauce in an hour?
  • Because where else would a "No Fighting" rule include a fine for both The Choker and The Chokee if the Chokee was a complete tool?
  • I realize there's very little need for a physical exchange any more, and there is probably not much reason the NYSE needs to buy it, but it was a great place once (unless you wanted to execute an options order with us!).
