Below is the most recent sector bell curve Todd mentioned in Random Thoughts. And below that bell curve is the curve from one year ago. The longer-term rally actually began in October of 2002, though the more broad-based gains did not begin to materialize until April of this year.

Before long we should begin hearing from financial talking heads why this market weakness, with a sprinkle of seasonality thrown in, is similar to September 2002. Obviously, as the bell curve from September 25, 2002 shows, it is not.
