Taking a break to think about the 'Ville

Can we please go back to the 'Butte now?

Before any more time passed, I wanted to take a moment to add my two cents about the First Annual Minyanfest and about Minyanville in general.

My business partner and I founded our firm to provide an independent voice in a field full of conflicts. As I describe it when I speak to young entrepreneurs, we were independent before independent was cool. Our number one mission is to make our research educational so the science part of investing in biotech was more accessible.

When I found out last December Todd had his own gig now, I was really excited. I missed his daily insights into the market. When I landed on his home page and started reading, I knew I found a kindred spirit far beyond the flickering ticks. When he paid me the incredible honor of inviting me to write for the site it felt like I had come home again. I became part of an incredibly smart group of people who have made it their mission to help people be better investors. Please take it from someone who lives with one foot in and one foot out of this business - such dedication to helping other people profit without asking "what's in it for me" is altogether too rare.

The Minyanfest was the personification of this attitude. I can't count the number of times I heard some variation of "I think I can help you with that" or "I know the perfect person to answer that question" or "I had that same problem and here's what I did to fix it." If you didn't understand a concept presented by one of the professors and you asked them to explain, you never (never) were made to feel like an idiot - I know, because I did a lot of asking!

My thanks go out to Todd for the personal commitment to create a world where these amazing things feel so ordinary and for allowing me to play a role in the adventure. My thanks to the other Professors for teaching me something every day. Mostly, my thanks to my fellow Minyanville readers - especially those who spread the word about this unique place.

Hey Billy! Sign me up for next year's event right now. Courtney! Book my flight, please. It's only 351 days away and I can't wait to see the critters, my fellow professors, and my fellow Minyans again... (which might happen sooner than we think?).
