From Here to Maternity
"Nothin' quite puts the spring in a young bull's stride the way studdin' does!"
And there was born unto him a boy, named John Kenneth Superfly...
An excerpt from the Ofoto.com (Kodak's (EK) too-little-too-late-but-not-bad online photo store) semi-junk email I sent out earlier today:
Anne and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of John Kenneth Macke, born yesterday afternoon by c-section. He is 7lbs 10ounces and 21.5" of healthy young man.
My early take is that he's tough but with a glint in his eye revealing a kind soul. He's quick with a joke for a pal and a jape for a foe. He loves unreservedly but retains a cool head, and the perspective born of his innate intelligence, in all situations.
Women adore him, men want to have a beer with him and his sister wants to dress him up like Elmo. John Kenneth looks forward to investigating these and all the other opportunities before him.
But, again, it's early. The important things are that mother and child are doing well, as are Helena and daddy.
Minyans, please accept the heartfelt thanks of my entire family for your kind thoughts, prayers and White Light. More personally, thanks for letting me take such frequent personal off-ramps while we share a trip down the financial highway.
Though not naturally given to the feeling, I am humbled in the most thankful way for the blessings which have been bestowed on me and my growing tribe.
Moving right along...
Electronic Arts (ERTS) is getting shredded by (and in) a downgrade to underperform at Bear Stearns. ERTs reports tonight and, according to my Bloomberg machine, the Street is looking for a 24-cent loss on just under $327mm revs. Minyan Mid-Life Crisis (who, you may remember, was bullish on Erts last week) responded to the question "Are you buying ERTS here?" with "own small now, looking to buy $55 and lower...".
Sounds a little "all Porsche, no 'motor' " to me but I've been known to be harsh about that type of thing...
- Very kind of NetFlix (NFLX) to blow out their numbers on my son's birthday. Gifts were certainly not expected nor required but, hey, if you were going to go against my wishes a better than 10% gain sure makes a nice gift.
- NetFlix' generosity really throws Collins' silence into harsh relief, huh?
- For what it's worth, I added some TiVO (TIVO) on the long side yesterday. Nothing huge and not advice... just sticking to my oft-shared plan on the name, as the DirecTV (DTV) related downgrades flow...
