Minyan Mailbag: Minyans in the Mountains
The Dairy Diva will personally guarantee a smile!
Note: Our goal in Minyanville is to remove intimidation from the financial markets and encourage an interactive dialogue among the Minyanship. We share this next column with that very intent.
Just a (not so) quick question regarding Minyans in the Mountains II. As an independent investor, is this shindig going to be worth the considerable expense/time commitment to attend? As a Boston guy, who will already be vacationing in Michigan w/ my family (on a beautiful, Great Lake I might add), it's hard to a) uproot everyone from a vacation to go on another or b) leave them while we're on vacation.
My concern is that if I do either option I will get to Cali, and find out that this is more a gathering of financial "pros," even though in the back of my mind I know that Minyanville is an inclusive type of place. Looking at the pictures from last year's gathering, it looks like a smallish group. With the change of venue, is this more a type of thing where lectures will happen and the professors will head back to their "offices?"
I guess what I'm interested in knowing is whether this is the type of thing where a guy who's not considered a "pro" is welcome? Sorry if this sounds like I'm questioning the intent of MiM2, but I need some reassurance that the effort will be worthwhile.
Yours in Minyanship,
I pride myself on being honest and would rather maintain our relationship than "sell" a ticket to MiM2. It is with great confidence that I'll say that this isn't a group of exclusive "cliques" or power circles. This is about "human capital," bridging networks, establishing relationships and enjoying life, balance and the beauty of family.
I fielded similar questions last year from "solo Minyans" who were concerned that they'd feel isolated or left out. I assured them--as I'll assure you--that Minyans in the Mountains is all about our collective community. I will offer a personal guarantee that everyone who treks to Ojai will be made to feel welcome and warm. That's simply our way.
Looking forward to shaking your hand and please, Minyan Terry, bring the fam!
