It's gonna be a VERY busy overnight session!

  • CIA director George Tenet is resigning for personal reasons. Personal reasons? Maybe I'm squinting too hard but please put a check mark next to this news item as something we'll circle back to. That's not a political observation--it's a potential fly in the psychology ointment and, as such, we gotta note it.

  • If you haven't read Professor Succo's latest, please print it out. It's a keeper.

  • I would talk about this story but I've forgotten what it's about.

  • Has anybody ever seen Lt. Col. Matthew Markinson and Collin Powell in the same room at the same time? Think about that...

  • I would like to officially welcome Bill Meehan III as our first Minyanville summer intern. We continue to weigh other young lads and will perhaps set up an Apprentice style summer derby. The winner, if all goes according to plan, will find themselves a spot in the Minyanville family.

  • The semis continue to act like drek as inventory concerns weigh on the group.

  • Crude has been all over the place and equity traders are getting dizzy. A few "sharp cookies" are looking for lower levels.

  • "All over China, parents tell their children to stop complaining and to finish their quadratic equations and trigonometric functions because there are 65 million American kids going to bed with no math at all." -- Michael Cunningham

  • Herb Greenberg has started his premium service "Reality Check" on CBS MarketWatch. For those unfamiliar with Herb's verbs, we used to write together and I always found his insights quite valuable. He is offering a 30-day free trial if ya'll wanna dip a toe!

  • Citigroup (C:NYSE) and the piggies (not to be confused with Bennie and the Jets) aren't "popping" with the rally tries (a sign of supply). BKX 98 remains uber-important.

  • "The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn't being said" - Unknown

  • Lehman's aptly named chartist Jeff DeGraff noted in his morning missive that while he views crude as a long term winner, the short-term was a little toppy in his view. He opined that he is looking for the Texas tea to dip into the $34 range.

  • Billy Meehan's Delta Tau Chi pledge name? Flounder is an obvious tag (he's a legacy) although Swine is the sentimental choice. Either way, he's in charge of the traditional sashimi welcome in the 'Ville--don't fluff it up!

  • The first graders at Rodeph Shalom absolutely LOVED the critters. They ain't seen nothin' yet!

  • Belmont Stakes this weekend. Hmm....never been.

  • The retailers and drugs have traded with a bid all morning.

  • Please report any critter abuse to the ASPCA.

  • What is it with things named Tenet?

  • Please remain on your toes as we edge towards the close. The overnight double doozy (Intel (INTC:NASD) and Beeks) looms and posturing is definitely in the cards.

  • I'm rolling down my silver 'buy stops' and keepin' 'em tight at this level. The short side schnitzel was a pure trade within the context of a much broader bullish thesis.
