Minyan Mountain Mailbag

Lotsa livestock in them thar hills....
I'm very much looking forward the Minyans in the Mountains event that is approaching--I wouldn't miss it for the world. I am quite a bit of a "MOG" (my own best friend and a bit of a loner). But I'll find my way to Crested Butte. It kinda feels like when I was a kid and my dad would take me to summer hoops camp and drop me off knowing no one and tell me to work on my game. I have the same mindset here and I am sure I will be able to befriend some Minyans. I've always wanted to go whitewater rafting and hope I can overcome my reservation and find some people who are interested.
I hope I can get a few minutes to talk with you about the important stuff. You know my story, i haven't picked up a drink in nearly 3 and a half years and have never been happier or more fulfilled in my life. I still have some things I need to "let go" of, but I have learned more about life, myself and the markets in the past 2 years than ever before. I was out training in a big park on Sunday (the Minyanville weight contest way back when served as my motivation to kickstart my training and now I am in the best shape of my life under 180 and 6% body fat) and for a moment I just stopped my training, stared into the sky, and felt a moment of peace and gratefulness that I couldn't describe. A few tears started falling out from underneath my sunglasses as these emotions of joy just bubbled over, and I thought about all the people who have guided me along my way. Your life and market lessons have been invaluable to me on my journey.
Minyan 'name withheld'
Thanks kindly for the warm words and nice work on that moment of clarity. I wanted to publish your note as a mailbag as there are surely others who wanna trek to the 'fest but may feel strange about coming alone. I will simply offer that nobody will be alone--the whole purpose of this event is to vibe with ye fellow faithful and the Minyanville professors. I know it's a bit of a schlep to get to Colorado but this is about connecting and building our mutual network.
The presentations and Q&A's will take place in the mornings and the afternoons will be left for softball, mountain biking, rafting, bench sitting and BBQ's. Crested Butte is a small town (Main Street actually looks exactly like Main Street!) and there promises to be a Minyan at every turn. When Scotto first conceived this idea, I embraced it as I very much wanted to surround his family with as much love as possible. And as a function of the tremendous news we received last week, this gathering has turned into a celebration of life. I'm psyched that you'll be there to share the vibe.
