Data point

What a place this Wall Street. University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment just came out and looked to be roughly in line with expectations. Uhhhhh - how does that compare with Walmart's (WMT) guidance earlier this morning?

Part of understanding Wall Street is realizing how stats and market action gets reported in the financial press (which many times I am part of). For example, if stocks are up today, you may see the headline "Stocks up on Confidence number." If stocks are down, you may see the headline "Stocks down on Walmart (WMT) guidance.

Each and every day, any data point could be used as "the" excuse for the day's action, but just understand each one is only one data point.
