Turkey Day Reflections

By

I am deeply thankful for the crew we all play for - the Minyans whose thoughts and questions make each of my days more fun and interesting.

Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday and time of year, and I won't go too heavy on the gravy –except at the end - but a coupla thoughts from yesterday…

  • How long will I still be able to find that second gear on the fly pattern in the post-turkey family football game? I stand by the definition to being "in shape" – any weight that is ten pounds lighter than your brother in law.

  • Speaking of which, my sister from Boston tells me an elementary school nearby has banned touch football during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable.

  • And as for overeating, since Medicare now endorses stomach shrinking surgery, meaning insurance will follow in step - eat all you want! Somebody else's taxes and premiums will cover the tab for any actual…what are those things called? Oh yea - consequences, for your actions.

  • And people wonder why I'm overweight international markets?!?!

  • No Grinch here, just a reminder as we focus on ourselves and loved ones today there is another 95% of the planet back at work, and we are ever so slightly less important than we were yesterday – so enjoy today (and the Longhorns over the Ags).

  • I won't attempt a cheap knock-off (I save those for the in-laws' Christmas presents) of Toddo's list of thanks – which made me smile and think - from earlier this week, except for one. I'm thankful for his crew and his view. My partner and I spent the past two decades on Wall Street before opening our own firm and in all that time we never found a guy capable of inspiring a group quite like Todd. We've never been around a group of guys and gals that match an enjoyment of the game they're playing with a skill to play it on a very high level. I wish more people knew what that feels like. I am truly thankful to be a small part of it. And I am deeply thankful for the crew we all play for – the Minyans whose thoughts and questions make each of my days more fun and interesting.
