Todd,

I haven't voted yet today since the polls don't open until long after I get to work, but as I stand in line tonight, in addition to the task at hand, I will be thinking about how great it is to live in a democracy, and how thankful I am that I have the freedom to express my opinions and cast my vote without fear of physical harm or retribution. Especially as a woman, that is something I never ever take for granted.

And I am thankful to our armed forces and veterans (especially my brother, and my best friend - a Marine captain, and my grandfather - Army officer, West Point grad, killed in WWII), who defend our way of life and the cause of freedom around the world.

While I am very cognizant of the many problems facing our country, both economic and otherwise, when I consider what our country and the people of our country have survived and endured over decades and centuries, I have faith that the American spirit is a resilient one, and in the end, we as a nation will survive and prosper. I believe there are enough good people out there, doing positive things -- Minyanville included -- that eventually, things will get better. (However, please note that's a long term view, not a short term trade into this week's election craziness.) I think for my own sanity, I have to keep believing that - I mean, I'm 31.97 years old, and I would hate to think that the best days are behind me already!

Have a great day,
Minyan Sarah
