Also, Pandora has a big day.
MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The Nasdaq Composite Index (^IXIC) fell 0.90% to 3,053.30 at 3:00 p.m. today following disappointing employment numbers and a growing sense of unease on the eve of Friday’s Jackson Hole speech.
First Solar (FSLR) fell 15.79 to $20.38 on news that it was revising its schedule for projects at a plant in Arizona. It was another weak day for Nokia (NOK), which continued its downward slide by dropping 5.34% to just $2.74 after the release of the Windows Phone 8. It wasn’t all bad news, though; beleaguered social media giant Facebook (FB) actually ticked up 0.37% to $19.17, slowly moving above the 50%-of-IPO-value price.
Pandora (P) had a fantastic day, rising a whopping 17.81% to $11.89 per share after news that the company had broken even, outperforming analyst expectations. The price of Bio-Reference Laboratories (BRLI) dropped 9.47% to $25.81 on disappointing news out of its sector, but the biggest loss belonged to Ciena (CIEN), which dropped 18.63% to $13.68 after reporting widespread losses.
