The Midday S&P 500 Is Up in Anticipation of Thanksgiving

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The S&P 500 (INDEXSP:.INX) is at 1,380.90 points as of 2:30 p.m. EST today. Leading the upswing is Tyson Foods (NYSE:TSN), which is up 7.58% to $18.19 despite a mixed fourth-quarter earnings report, most likely due to its anticipated Thanksgiving sales. Lowe’s Companies (NYSE:LOW) is also up 5.50% to $33.73 per share, due to increased purchase of homebuilding materials in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Meanwhile, Cablevision Systems (NYSE:CVC) is down 1.78% to $13.79 after being sued for $250 million after outages during Hurricane Sandy.
