The Midday S&P 500 Rises High on Election Day

The anticipation of the election is driving the market up.
MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The S&P 500 (INDEXSP:.INX) is up .94% to 1,430.61 today as of 2:20 p.m. Leading this rise is Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE:CSC), which is up 19.37% to $37.76 per share after announcing job cuts and a reshuffling of operations to better manage its contracts and increase cash flow. Also up is First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) which gained 7.14% to $24.99 per share after analysts reported that the company is setting itself up for a rebound. Today's big loser is Fossil Inc. (NASDAQ:FOSL) which lost 12.19% to $82.67 a share because of a mixed earnings report for Q3.
