The Midday S&P Is Down Again Due to Mixed Earnings Reports

Windstream Corp and Hospira Inc. stocks fall on bad third-quarter news.
MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The S&P 500 (INDEXSP:.INX) is down .65% to 1,385.42 as of 2:15 p.m. today. Leading this fall is Windstream Corp (NASDAQ:WIN) which fell 8.88% to $8.59 per share after missing estimates for its 3Q earnings report. Also down is Hospira Inc (NYSE:HSP) which fell 4.97% to $29.96 a share after its 3Q report revealed shrinking gross and operating margins, despite growth in net margins. Today’s big winner is Verisign Inc. (NASDAQ:VRSN) which rose 6.26% to $42.96 per share.
