S&P 500 Mid-Market Report: Bed Bath & Beyond Continues to Rise

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The S&P 500 (^GSPC) is up 1.15 or .11% as of 2:45 p.m. EDT.
 
Bed Bath & Beyond (BBBY) is on the rise today, continuing the streak it started last Friday. It has gone up 1.16 or 1.74%.
 
Everyone’s favorite condiment brand, HJ Heinz Co. (HNZ), also rose 1.50 or 2.66%, most likely due to CEO William Johnson’s recent announcement that the company expects strong first-quarter earnings.
 
E*TRADE Financial (ETFC), however, is today’s big gainer, increasing .27 or 3.22%.
 
In contrast, Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) is continuing its losing streak, falling .33 or 1.89%.
 
CONSOL Energy (CNX) is also continuing to fall due to the declining price of coal and natural gas, losing .74 or 2.30%.
 
Finally, Hudson City Bancorp (HCBK) is today’s big loser, falling .17 or 2.21%, despite its massive 15.77% rise yesterday.
