Nasdaq Mid-Market Highlights

eBay discovers Discover, and you're probably not getting a Dell, dude.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL Looking at the Nasdaq today at 2:45 p.m. EDT, eBay (EBAY) rose on heavier-than-average volume after announcing a new partnership between PayPal and Discover (DFS). The latter hit an all-time high after rising 4.22% to $38.56.

It was also a big day for beleaguered game developer Zynga (ZNGA), which rose 8.58% to $3.22 on 28,340,564 shares traded. This is still only a fraction of Zynga's IPO price of $10.00 per share. Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA) also did well, rising 6.69% to $8.61 on optimism about its new weight loss drugs.

Dell Inc. (DELL) fell sharply after news of poor earnings, losing 6.4% to rest uneasily at $11.55. A similar fate befell clothing retailer Wet Seal Inc. (WTSLA) after a decline in sales; it closed at $2.76 after dropping 9.8%.
