Here is a brief list of some key market events scheduled for the upcoming week. All earnings dates listed below are tentative and subject to change. Please check with each company's respective website for official reporting dates.

Monday
- The economic calendar kicks off with retail sales for September, the Empire State manufacturing index, and business inventories. Elsewhere, Citigroup (NYSE:C), Gannett (NYSE:GCI), Packaging Corp. of America (NYSE:PKG), and WD-40 (NASDAQ:WDFC) will take turns in the earnings confessional.
- On Tuesday, we'll get the latest consumer price index (CPI) and core CPI, industrial production and capacity utilization, as well as the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) housing market index. We'll also hear earnings from the likes of Intel (NASDAQ:INTC), International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM), Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), Coca-Cola (NYSE:KO), UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH), Apollo Group (NASDAQ:APOL), Cree (NASDAQ:CREE), CSX (NYSE:CSX), Domino's Pizza (NYSE:DPZ), Forest Laboratories (NYSE:FRX), Goldman Sachs Group (NYSE:GS), Intuitive Surgical (NASDAQ:ISRG), Mattel (NASDAQ:MAT), PNC Financial Services (NYSE:PNC), State Street (NYSE:STT), United Rentals (NYSE:URI), and Wolverine World Wide (NYSE:WWW).
- Wednesday's economic calendar features the MBA mortgage index, new housing starts and building permits, as well as the weekly update on crude inventories. Meanwhile, earnings are due out from Bank of America (NYSE:BAC), American Express (NYSE:AXP), Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:ABT), Bank of New York Mellon (NYSE:BK), BlackRock (NYSE:BLK), eBay (NASDAQ:EBAY), Halliburton (NYSE:HAL), Knight Capital Group (NYSE:KCG), PepsiCo (NYSE:PEP), Quest Diagnostics (NYSE:DGX), St. Jude Medical (NYSE:STJ), SLM Corp (NASDAQ:SLM), Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE:SWK), Steel Dynamics (NASDAQ:STLD), US Bancorp (NYSE:USB), and Xilinx (NASDAQ:XLNX).
- Thursday's economic notables include weekly jobless claims, the Philadelphia Fed's manufacturing index, and the Conference Board's index of leading economic indicators. Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), The Travelers Companies (NYSE:TRV), Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ), Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE:AMD), Boston Scientific (NYSE:BSX), Capital One Financial (NYSE:COF), Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE:CMG), Cypress Semiconductor (NASDAQ:CY), E*TRADE Financial (NASDAQ:ETFC), Fifth Third Bancorp (NASDAQ:FITB), Huntington Bancshares (HBAN), KeyCorp (NYSE:KEY), Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), Philip Morris International (NYSE:PM), SanDisk (NASDAQ:SNDK), Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV), SUPERVALU (NYSE:SVU), and Union Pacific (NYSE:UNP) will unveil their respective earnings reports.
- We'll round out the week's glut of domestic economic reports with the release of existing home sales. Additionally, General Electric (NYSE:GE), McDonald's (NYSE:MCD), Baker Hughes (NYSE:BHI), Honeywell International (NYSE:HON), Ingersoll-Rand (NYSE:IR), McMoRan Exploration (NYSE:MMR), and Schlumberger (NYSE:SLB) are scheduled to release their quarterly reports.
