Ardea Biosciences and Sirius XM Radio Among Most Active Stocks in Pre-Market Today


Amylin Pharmaceuticals was up this morning.

The three most active stocks in pre-market trading on the Nasdaq were Ardea Biosciences (RDEA), Sirius XM Radio (SIRI), and Amylin Pharmaceuticals (AMLN) as of 9:00 a.m. Investors traded 9,709,364 shares of Ardea Biosciences, which was up $10.69, or 51.30%. Shares of Ardea skyrocketed on the news this morning that AstraZeneca (AZN) acquired Ardea for $32 a share. AstraZeneca valued the company at $1 billion, and it will now own Ardea's gout drug Iesinurad, which is in its third phase of clinical testing. Amylin also rose in value on speculation of another deal in the pharmaceutical sector involving the company. Investors traded 499,174 shares of Sirius XM, which was down $0.03, or 1.12% and 474,778 shares of Amylin, which was up $2.72, or 11.87%. Sirius XM remains in the spotlight because investors are waiting to see if the stock can stay above the $2.20 price level.
