S&P 500 Mid-Market Report: Sharp Declines Due to Its Inability to Secure a Deal With Foxconn

Goodyear and Newmont are up, while iPhone screen maker Sharp is falling rapidly.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL Today the S&P 500 (^GSPC) is up 9.20 or .65% as of 2:45 p.m. EDT, reversing its negative performance from yesterday. Today's big movers include Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company (GT), which rose .46 or 3.90%. Another stock on the rise was gold producer Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM), which gained 1.86 or 3.83%. Finally, today's big loser is the Japanese electronics manufacturer Sharp (SHCAF), which fell .27 or 9.61% in response to its trouble refinancing debts, and its inability to secure a deal with Foxconn in time for the Apple (AAPL) iPhone 5's presumptive announcement.
