The Midday S&P 500: Netflix Surges Massively

Plus, Apple continues to lose value due to a strike at Foxconn.
MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL Today the S&P 500 (INDEX:INX) is down .40% to 1455.18 as of 2:00 p.m. EDT. Today’s big loser is Eastman Chemical Co. (NYSE:EMN), which fell 4.16% to $56.67 after news of rising natural gas prices and the lack of optimism for chemical companies. Also down is Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), which lost 2.32% to $637.87 per share due to news that a strike at Foxconn (TPE:2354) has stopped iPhone production. On the positive side, Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) is today’s big winner, surging a massive 10.16% to $73.32 per share after a reiteration of the company’s buy rating by Citigroup analysts and notable hedge fund manager Whitney Tilson.
