Next week, the bulk of the S&P 500 companies will report earnings.

So far investors have responded to earnings reports by “selling the news”. This has some pundits saying that the top must be in because reaction to earnings hasn’t been as strong previous quarters.

That’s not saying blowout quarters haven’t been greeted with buying, on Thursday night Google (GOOG) reported a stellar quarter and it traded higher by 4%.

Some companies reporting next week are: Apple (AAPL), Amazon (AMZN), Wells Fargo (WFC), Caterpillar (CAT), Yahoo! (YHOO), Morgan Stanley (MS), Potash (POT) and Microsoft (MSFT).
