Murmurs
Dear Ambassador,
Minyanville has launched an ambitious effort with hopes of stimulating communities throughout the world to embrace and effect positive change through financial understanding. We intend to use the knowledge garnered from the Minyanville community to teach and engage others in an environment where financial literacy thrives.
The foundational constructs of these efforts are:
- Earning
- Spending
- Saving
- Giving
These are the four tenets of finance—no matter how young or old we are, they remain the same. From the ABC’s to the 401(K)’s, the older and wealthier we get, the more complex they get but the framework remains constant.
The most important outcome of joining the MUR is action. The ‘Ville—and financial literacy as a whole—is a pure meritocracy; the more you put into it, the more you’ll get out of it. We are humbly asking ye faithful to take action as we do our part to remain part of the solution.
We would like you to think about ways to connect with your community to discuss finance. Specifically, we would like you to connect with your school system where you can go into a classroom and talk about financial intelligence.
Here are some links to a few articles on Minyanville, as well as some discussion guides provided by the National Council for Economic Education. The first ten people that get back to us with a scheduled event will receive half a dozen Minyanville T-Shirts and hats to hand out as prizes.
We would also ask you to send a letter to your US Representative requesting they contact Minyanville at teach@minyanville.com to discuss the development of a standard national education program to teach children the fundamentals of Earning, Spending Saving and Giving. A sample email can be found here and you can simply send that to your representative’s web site (links to all US Representatives can be found here)
We want to make the MUR meaningful and now is the time to lead by example so future generations aren’t burdened by past and present policy.
To this I would ask, if not us, who? If not now, when?
With passion and purpose,
Toddo
