Politicians, ever hungry for face time on TV, are accustomed to speaking in canned sound bites to advance a bill that generates little interest or impact beyond the Beltway. But now
that Washington has replaced New York (temporarily, one hopes) as the financial capital of the world, their words can spook the markets.
