United Airlines (UAL) is keeping 52 planes in the hangar due to improper testing of fire suppression systems. Fires, when burning on airplanes, are known to be dangerous.

Last week, United determined improper wiring may have caused two separate runway incidents. On March 20th, a maintenance facility in South Korea discovered several of its jumbo jets had not been properly inspected.

Southwest (LUV) and Delta (DAL) are also having trouble taking proper care of their fleets; each grounded jets to comply with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety regulations last week. At the time, we mused that airlines had found a new way to cut costs. Looks like the rest of the industry caught on quick.

It should be noted that the FAA made other airlines who were IN COMPLIANCE WITH INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS to re-inspect their aircraft to take the heat off themselves for not checking to make sure Southwest was in compliance. But you won't find
