Hello from New York where I'm simultaneously 1) packing, 2) getting ready for tonight's Fast Money after which I will, 3) be stuffed into the back of a van with the rest of the cast and whisked to Chicago for tomorrow night's show from "The Historic Palace Theater." Todd-O has complained about A.D.D. for years; wait'll he gets a load of life on TV and the Web. Here's what else I'm watching since I obviously have as many eyes as a housefly (and the same attention span):
- Intel (INTC) is justifying my love after an analyst upgrade got some more folks on board. I'm not saying life in Semi-ville is gangbusters by being long INTC; I'm simply saying that at some point during the 10 point beating in early '08 a lack of gangbustering was in the shares.
- What does it look like when a security is reaching a support level? Check out crude today. The Big Slick has been using $10 increments as resistance (then support) since at least $100. Today's roll-over brought crude under $121 (i.e. "towards 120 support") for what Joe Terranova tells me was "less than two minutes." I'm not chasing; I'm respecting.
- I also respect Carl Icahn and his Yahoo (YHOO) rabble-rousing but, I tell you, if you're banking on Microsoft (MSFT) upping its prior bid substantially simply because Carl is making Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang's life miserable you're betting on the wrong horse. Carl's playing his hand exactly right (read: like I would if I had a few billion) but Microsoft has an equally obvious and effective counter: Do nothing.
- I sent out a request to some friends for "Chicago-Themed Songs" suggestions for my iPod today. The top suggestion was Guy Adami's BB King ("The Thrill is Gone"). Cab Callaway came in second with Minnie the Moocher. Bringing up the rear was the aforementioned Todd-O and his idea that I might enjoy some "If You Leave Me Now" by the eponymous band.
- "Haunting" and not in a good way.
- Have a great night, Minyans. I'll try to check in from the Windy City as time permits and will certainly give y'all a full debrief next week.
