Know 'Nukes

Is nuclear power safe?

With record gas prices and summer around the corner, the cost of energy is high on everyone's list of woes. And for good reason. In the next 25 years, global electricity consumption will more than double. Fossil fuels won't last forever. Meanwhile more companies than ever, like Exxon Mobil (XOM), are being challenged to "go green."

In short, the name of the game is finding clean and cheap new sources of energy.

Which is why nuclear power is enjoying a mini-Renaissance. In fact, experts believe there will be about 50 new nuclear power plants erected globally by 2020. This could be good news for companies like Exelon (EXC) who have purchased nuclear power plants. General Electric (GE), which helps supply materials that go into building the plants, could also benefit from a nuclear power resurgence.

The question on everyone's mind is: is nuclear power safe? Hoofy and Boo find out.

We need 5000 new plants by 2020 if we are to stop the threat of the greatest economic collapse the world has ever seen. Trouble is we have to get by the haters of capital intensive investment who do business on Wall Street.
