Blond spokesperson becomes black sheep.
When she's not playfully splashing Bill Maher in the Grotto, Playboy (PLA) centerfold Kendra Wilkinson is an Olive Garden (DRI) lobbyist. Wilkinson's obsession with the restaurant has made her an unofficial spokesperson, endorsing it at every opportunity. The company, however, believes its family-friendly image is somehow tainted by support from one of Hugh Hefner's 3 live-in girlfriends.
Just wait until Arby's finds out about Larry Flynt's daily double-helping of its Beef 'n Cheddar.
Wilkinson, one of the stars of the E! Network's The Girls Next Door, has been seen on TV and the web clutching an Olive Garden takeout bag and praising their delectable cuisine. One video shows her perched outside the Playboy Mansion's front door, leftovers at her side, proudly proclaiming that she considers their menu items her "soul food."
Her soul was recently given a cholesterol rating of 223.
Wilkinson's infatuation with the restaurant has even led Hef to sponsor a contest for Olive Garden servers. Winners were featured in a "Girls of the Olive Garden" spread on Playboy.com, with waitresses standing provocatively alongside baguettes and house wine.
A spokesperson for the chain stated servers who posed for the photos will not be fired.
Free breadsticks, however, have been stricken from their employee benefits.
Wilkinson has also taken her recommendation overseas. While dining in an Italian bistro, she blurted out that the finest Italian restaurants can't compete with her favorite fake Italian back home. She has since elaborated on that sentiment, claiming the Olive Garden is on par with fine Italian dining - but she just doesn't have the emotional attachment to the ones in Europe.
Japan has no response to Wilkinson's position on Benihana.
Wilkinson shrugs off Olive Garden's cold shoulder, saying, "I understand they're a family restaurant, but I think it can't hurt them to have a little spice," seemingly unaware of the pepper, fennel and paprika found in many of their dishes. Despite the snub, Wilkinson has no plans to stop celebrating the restaurant in her many public forums.
The public hasn't seen an unauthorized endorsement given so much scorn since the golden age of Roger Clinton.
