• CKE (CKE), better known as Carl's Jr. and perhaps best known for its racy TV spots, is getting pole-axed today after reporting profits of roughly one hamburger. I'm a big fan of CEO Andy Puzder, who talks smack on Fast Money fairly regularly, but being a fast food chain with no real international exposure is tough these days.
  
  
• Speaking of FM; we've had one day and one mini-scandal involving March Madness. For those filling out brackets and keeping score at home, Google (GOOG) advanced to the second round over AT&T (T). Given the fact that Google's daily drop pattern resumed today on lousy click news, the company could use the temporary reprieve from elimination.
  
  
• Oracle (ORCL) is getting wood-shedded after reporting weak revenue growth and a bad mix of revs to boot. While I'm all for using any excuse to note the recession, I would offer that ORCL is only back to roughly where it was last week and still a buck over early March lows. A rest was due, even if the news and price action today is lousy.

• Falling into the exact same category ("needing a rest but looking ugly"), the financials are being stomped on a downgrade, some Lehman (LEH) rumors and general discontent. "Too late to short, too early to buy," from where I'm sitting.
  
  
• I made a U2 mix on my Apple (AAPL) iPod for my train rides yesterday. Nothing like old music and familiar smells to send me tripping down memory lane. Hearing Bono and the Lads is like running into an old, dear friend. If I could somehow get a whiff of my Grandma's chicken soup I could probably grow back a full head of hair.
  
  
• "Blonde, brownish, gone" was what the hair looked like, depending on the era, for those who may be curious.
